Karon Leigh is a contemporary expressionist artist working in mixed media, encaustic and printmaking. She currently resides in Tumacacori, Arizona, about 50 miles south of Tucson.

Artist’s Statement

“My artwork is a visual interpretation of my experience in the world. I am interested in how our surroundings affect us and am inspired by and drawn to landscapes; influenced by weather, light, time of day or season, historical and geological time and history.  I look for an alternative view, microscopic, topographic, cosmic or celestial, even the landscapes of our minds – a state of being. Each work evolves intuitively rising out of "the moment.”often dictated by the painting itself as it evolves and develops through the building of numerous layers of encaustic, oil pastels, oil paint and other mixed media as needed.The finished work invites the viewer to experience a moment in time, a memory, a dream or a place long forgotten.”
